Dentistry at The Crown is independently owned and run by husband-and-wife dentists Iona and Chris Cairns.
As a patient, your care is led by Iona or Chris. We deliberately keep our clinical team small because continuity matters to us.
That also gives us a high degree of consistency in the dentistry we provide. Iona and Chris know how treatment is being diagnosed, planned and carried out because they are the ones doing it.
Being independent also means decisions about clinical standards, materials, training and investment are made here in the practice by the people providing the dentistry.
We get to know our patients, understand the dentistry they already have and remain personally accountable for the treatment we provide.
Because we expect to continue looking after that dentistry ourselves, we place a strong emphasis on doing things properly from the outset and creating work that can be maintained well over time.
MEET IONA AND CHRISJoining the practice starts with a comprehensive New Patient Assessment with either Iona or Chris. It gives us the opportunity to understand your dental health properly before recommending any treatment.
We examine your teeth, gums and oral soft tissues, take routine dental X-rays and will usually take a digital scan of your teeth.
Includes routine dental X-rays and usually a digital scan.
After your enquiry, we will send you our new-patient information pack so you know what to expect before you come in.
After your assessment, we will let you know whether you can join the Highland Dental Plan straight away or whether it would be better to complete some stabilisation treatment first.
JOIN THE PRACTICE HIGHLAND DENTAL PLAN
Good dentistry is about more than repairing the tooth that is causing trouble. Where possible, we want to understand why a problem has developed, preserve healthy tooth tissue and choose treatment that can be looked after properly over time.
Careful diagnosis, premium materials, attention to detail and a high standard of technical work.
Recommendations based on evidence and clinical reasoning. New techniques and technology are adopted when they offer a genuine benefit, not simply because they are new.
Time to listen, clear explanations and a calm, respectful experience. Patients should be able to make informed decisions without feeling rushed or sold to.
Patients in Aberfeldy and Highland Perthshire should be able to access sophisticated private dentistry without routinely travelling to a city.
We invest in postgraduate education, digital dentistry, high-quality materials and modern clinical techniques so that a broad range of care can be provided here in Aberfeldy.
Chris has postgraduate training in restorative and cosmetic dentistry through Tipton Training, with further training and experience in biomimetic dentistry and denture construction.
Iona has additional training in endodontics and teeth straightening and is currently undertaking postgraduate implant training through Tipton Training.
